It's auxiliary devices installed near the suction inlet of a submersible dredge or slurry pump. Their main function is to agitate, loosen, and suspend solid materials in the surrounding area to enhance pump efficiency and ensure smooth slurry intake. Usually one pump can be equipped with 2, 3 or 4 Side Agitators, the number of Side Agitators can be increased or decreased according to customer needs.
Main Functions:
▪ Stirring Settled Solids
Side agitators break up compacted or settled materials (such as sand, silt, clay, or sludge) to keep them in suspension. This prevents clogging at the pump’s suction inlet and maintains consistent slurry flow.
▪ Improving Suction Efficiency
By suspending more solids in the water around the pump, agitators help increase the concentration of solids being pumped. This improves material output and productivity, especially in dredging and high-density pumping tasks.
▪ Expanding the Working Area
Side agitators increase the effective dredging area without needing to reposition the pump frequently. Ideal for covering larger zones in ponds, rivers, or tailings basins.
▪ Reducing Wear and Energy Consumption
Preventing suction blockages reduces load on the pump, helping to lower wear on components and extend service life. Ensures stable and efficient operation over long periods.
▪ Handling Challenging Sediments
Especially useful in environments with cohesive, sticky, or uneven sediments, such as clay or industrial sludge.
