Q: Can this Heavy-Duty Submersible Sludge Stainless Steel Pump run dry?
A: No, completely not! submersible stainless steel pump will be damaged even in short time dry run. The mechanical sealing need cooling and lubrication when the pump is working. Without liquid, the mechanical sealing will be overheating and cracked, which will lead to the leakage of the pump and the liquid enter into the motor. Therefore, the motor will may be damaged for it need liquid to cool during the operation period. Hydroman® suggest ensure the motor always submerged under the water during operation. There are two methods can ensure the pump operating only just sbmerged. Firstly, only operators can clearly see the circustance of the pump bottom, then they can turn on or shut down the pump manually. Secondly, installed a float switch which can automatically shut down the pump when the liquid lower to the special position in the chamber.
